Portraits, wildlife, and Central Coast subjects rendered in full shading — the kind of work that still reads clean twenty years in.
Names, dates, and mottos in script, Old English, bold block, or fine-line — every letterform custom-drawn to the piece, not traced from a font sheet.
In The Field opened its doors on North Main Street in 1977 and has been working on the same stretch of Salinas ever since — through three generations of artists and two generations of clients who now bring their kids in for their first piece.
We built our name on realism and lettering: portraits and wildlife that hold their detail for decades, and custom script, Old English, and fine-line type drawn letter by letter for the person wearing it.
Today we're proud to call ourselves the dominant shop in the field across the Central Coast — still family-run, still appointment-based, still on North Main.
